WWLD: What Would Lisa Do?

Sooooo beat.  Long day.  Didn’t get enough sleep because, in a shocking turn of events, I was up till 2 a.m. watching fucking “Step it Up and Dance.”  That show fully rocks my socks.  I’m now watching the last 1 1/2 episodes to get caught up.  I find Elizabeth Berkley’s face very disturbing.  She’s pulled tight as a drum.  Obvious plastic surgery victim.  Isn’t she like 30?  Why is she already having so much plastic surgery?  Very odd.

Went and bought a replacement vehicle today.  Nothing exciting.  It was cheap and appears reliable.  Hopefully, my draft will go well and I’ll trade it in a few months from now.  Buying the car, of course, was an arduous process.  First of all, I’m tired of all this fake bonhomie that has to take place between the customer and the salesperson.  “Wow, what a beautiful customer I have.” “Uh oh … a lawyer, I’d better be careful (sound of fake, disingenuous laughter).”  Bad time.  The salesperson’s “assistant” stole Amy Winehouse’s makeup.  Which is a bit jarring at 11 a.m.  She was a short, Mexican woman with extraordinarily blonde/orange hair, tons of black eyeliner, and a pair of lowrise jeans that were at least 2 sizes too small.  Serious muffin top.  She was very nice, though.  She tried to quiz me about going to paralegal school.  I kept trying to explain that I have no fucking clue what sort of credentials paralegals need to be hired as I am not, nor have I ever been, a paralegal.  This seemed to make no difference to her, whatsoever.  At the end of the transaction, my salesguy wrapped me in a giant bear hug which I felt was wildly inappropriate.  He also kept making “jokes” all morning/afternoon about how he shouldn’t tell me how attractive I was because, since I was a lawyer, I could sue him for sexual harassment.  I just agreed with him hoping this fuckwit would stop talking and process my paperwork faster.

Luckily, the next part of my afternoon was far less arduous.  Went out to UCLA and arrived just in time to see my new client pitch 3 innings.  1 unearned run, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts.  Awesome performance.  And he got the win.  My client, B, is soooooo rad.  We clicked immediately.  His parents are awesome, too.  Kid is from Chicago, big Cubs fan, surfer, plays guitar and drums and likes very cool music.  We spent a good 45 minutes talking about bands, shows, etc.  He’s very laidback.  Very zen.  Does yoga in the off-season.  Love this guy.  Lovehimlovehimlovehimlovehim.  I wish I knew some super cool 20 y.o. girl to set him up with.  Actually, he’s a good looking baseball player at UCLA.  He probably does just fine and doesn’t really need his agent setting up dates for him.  I am thrilled that we’re working together.  It’s sooooooo important to have the right chemistry with clients.  My criteria is usually that I only represent people that I’d be friends with under other circumstances.  He def fits.  He was even totally non-plussed when I lost my car keys and spent 10 minutes digging in my purse only to realize that I was holding them.  Hahahahahahaha.  I then spent another 15 minutes explaining that, contrary to first impression, I really am together.

Back at home … found out that my dad’s flight comes in tomorrow at 10:30, not 9:30, which is actually a significant difference.  Feels weird to be home on a Saturday night but kind of nice, I guess.  I can do all my girly stuff.  I just exfoliated and now have my facial mask going.  My luck, there will be an earthquake right now.  Or a fire.

O.K., off the topic, my friend, Kim, gave me this Josh Kelley CD about a million years ago and I’m ummmmm … just listening to it now.  Whoops.  Anyway, this acoustic song “Small Town Boy” is total radness.  To the nth degree.  I think this guy is now Mr. Katherine Heigel.  Such a pretty song.  Boy … my “party shuffle” is all over the board tonight … the pretty acoustic song is followed by some Flogging Molly, a crazy, kickass, Irish punk band.  This is making me feel very bipolar.
