Am I The Only Person Who Finds The View to Be the Most Inane Show in the History of Television?

And yes, this is coming from the girl who watched “Paris Hilton: My New BFF” tonight.  O.K., so … the latest from The View is that Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t know what the word “suffrage” means.  WHAT?  Are you fucking kidding me?  And then that moron Sherri Shepherd, the one who felt “uncomfortable” telling her kids that the Earth was round because she didn’t know for a fact that was true, states that suffrage is like “when black people, like, didn’t want to die for being black and being lynched and stuff.”  How the FUCK does it happen that these women have a t.v. show and I fucking don’t??????????????????????  Anyway, the article and video I’ve linked to is from defamer.com which I’m a big fan of.  They also describe Whoopi as being dressed like a “Navajo jewelry saleswoman from Tuba City, Arizona.”  Hahahahahaha.

The Edgar Allen Poe Poetry Hour

November 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have no idea why but the poem “Annabel Lee” just popped into my head tonight for some reason.  I literally haven’t taken a look at this poem for at least 20 years, but this was like my favorite poem when I was like 10 or 11.  So … upon re-reading, I’ve discovered that, no surprise, I had fantastic taste in literature as a kid.  Totally gorgeous poem.  If the last stanza doesn’t move you incredibly, you may be made of stone and should have that checked out immediately.  Plus, the line “can ever dissever my soul from the soul” is probably one of the best ever written.  So … now I’m online at 1 a.m. frantically looking for some more Poe.  This may require some used book buying on Half.com, I’m afraid …

It was many and many a year ago,
          In a kingdom by the sea,
    That a maiden there lived whom you may know
          By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
    And this maiden she lived with no other thought
          Than to love and be loved by me.

    I was a child and she was a child,
          In this kingdom by the sea;
    But we loved with a love that was more than love-
          I and my Annabel Lee;
    With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
          Coveted her and me.

    And this was the reason that, long ago,
          In this kingdom by the sea,
    A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
          My beautiful Annabel Lee;
    So that her highborn kinsman came
          And bore her away from me,
    To shut her up in a sepulchre
          In this kingdom by the sea.

    The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
          Went envying her and me-
    Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
          In this kingdom by the sea)
    That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
          Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

    But our love it was stronger by far than the love
          Of those who were older than we-
          Of many far wiser than we-
    And neither the angels in heaven above,
          Nor the demons down under the sea,
    Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
          Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

    For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
          Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
    And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
          Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
    And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
    Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
          In the sepulchre there by the sea,
          In her tomb by the sounding sea.
